Deborah "Cricket" Gallegos

Deborah Cricket Gallegos.jpg

I have been a jeweler and artist for 40 years. I was born in San Francisco and currently live in Hayward. Five years ago, I retired from my job as a real estate professional, which has given me more time to create art and poetry.

My paintings are inspired by the ornamental detail I notice in jewelry as well as in my various spiritual journeys. My spiritual expression is what leads me to my compositions. I am currently exploring the “Colorist” style, pioneered by the artist Paul Gauguin. Using color in ways that differ from the actual color of objects gives me more freedom in my expression. I also love being in nature and capturing different faces and expressions.

I have exhibited my artwork at Sun Gallery, Snappy’s Café, the San Leandro Library, the San Leandro Senior Center, the Hayward Senior Center, and in online shows. Winning first prize for a still life from the San Leandro Art Association is an accomplishment of mine that I am very proud of.
