Born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area, Renee began drawing as a child, inspired by her grandfather’s paintings. In 1996 she graduated from SF State with a BA in Media Arts Communications, and worked at media companies such as K1O1, KFOG, CNET Networks, and SF Magazine.
After leaving the media industry to start a family, Renee further pursued her artistic interests, obtaining a certificate from Berkeley Extension in their Post Baccalaureate Visual Arts Program and their Drawing Program. Since then she has been very involved in the arts community, and has served on the Board of Directors of a Bay Area arts organization as well as founded Art Maker Studio and HeART in Mind, a company which promotes wellness, connection, and creative expression among parents and kids.
Renee’s work has been shown in various Bay Area and Sacramento locations, including exhibitions at Marin MOCA, O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, and The Pence Gallery. Her work focuses on trauma and the often missed or ignored truths and inner human experiences it creates.
