Art has always been a part of Sheila’s life. Her creativity has been greatly influenced by nature, raising animals, and a love of gardening. She learned to paint with watercolors in high school, with art classes in Santa Cruz and workshops in the Sierra Foothills. A career in floral design also influenced her vision and creativity. She expanded her art into intricate paper cuttings.
Sheila was lucky to have raised her family where she was raised in the Santa Cruz mountains. In 2003 she moved to Calaveras County and currently lives in Murphys with her husband Larry. This gives her plenty of opportunities to explore and paint in the beautiful Sierra Foothills. She has also taken up photography to not only explore that art form but to give her more insight into seeing light and composition for her paintings.
Her watercolors and photography have been on display at the Hovey Winery in Murphys. She won First Place awards in the professional division at the Calaveras County Fair for both her artwork and her photography and has shown her photography at the InFocus Photography Competition in Sonora.
Sheila’s art is currently on display at the Art on Main Gallery in Murphys. She can be contacted through email or her webpage.
